LO2 - Images Taken for Production

These are my most useable images that I have taken. I went to CEX and then took pictures after carefully following my Risk assessment and Recce sheets. The images I decided to take all involved PlayStation 4 as that is the main focus of my magazine, and the bulk of my knowledge pin upcoming games.

Games on Shelves

Destiny on shelf

This is the main charazter on my front cover. So these images may come in useful.

Starwars Battlefront on Shelf

This was my most essential image that i had to capture, as i will have an entire page dedicated on wether this game will be worth the amount of money that they are asking for it. Purely based off the BETA.

Draft Article for Destiny Review

Destiny Review

The game that keeps trying to be loved, but does it succeed?

From the moment you begin your journey on Destiny you are presented with some beautiful graphics in the form of your Create a Character. I'm not going to lie that is the most fun part of the game. The ammount of options that we have to select from is at an insane ammount and is simply beautiful. The most favourable thing I can say about this game is the breath taking worlds it presents to a player, and the blistering shoot outs that take place in these worlds. But the issue with Destiny is that it is greatly lacking a core element to it, the worlds that are so big to get lost in just lack any sort of interaction. Which is a real shame because even on old gen consoles the games attention to detail stands out at such a beautiful level, every single rock hand designed. The repeats in this game graphics and texture wise is at such a minimal level, you wont even notice unless you are looking at every piece of rock and terrain for a long while (don't judge me). The main issue with Destiny is that it feels like it is trying to be everything, and incoperate so many different elements into a single game that it essentially feels like nothing. Which is dissapointing. The objctives on the game aren't really a focus of the gaem but more of a side mission because you get distracted by some sh** head trying to steal your kills. I will admit that the bike expierence on this game is quite satisfying due to the fact that it controls how I would imagine a speeder bike on Starwars battle front is. I would say this game is worth borrowing from someone and if you enjoy it steal your friends copy or purchase it online. But I can't sleep at night knowing I have recomended this game to people, it just feels lack luster....I would rather play COD.

LO2 - InDesign Practise

What I did in terms of skill & How it relates to my magazine

Using InDesign I learnt how to wrap an image around a text box, within a magazine. I also learnt how to select hyphenation, which is something I don't want within my magazine. Another thing I learnt is how to capitalise the first letters in a new paragraph, but to also make them extra large which is what you may expect in an official magazine. This is a skill that I will be using within my magazine, because I want my magazine to look official and not like an amateur has made it.

What this tells me I will need in my magazine

This tells me I will need to use photoshop, to help format the images and text, and to design everything into a way that I like. This has also taught me that to design the layout on InDesign is an ideal idea as it shows you the spacing and gutter within a magazine.

LO2 - Risk Assessment

I have done a risk assessment for when I went to take pictures for my magazine. This was very important to make sure that the process was a safe one, as that is the most important aspect.

LO2 - Recce Form

This is a recce form I made for when I went out to take photos for my gaming magazine. This has taken into account all of the possible issues that i will encounter from doing this.

Magazine so far

So far for my magazine I have completed the sketches of the layout and content, and I have started to create the magazine front cover on photoshop. In pre production I need to type up in more detail the actual content of my magazine and also scanning my sketches onto my blog.

LO1 - Page 2 Draft Articles

Little introduction done in a separate box to the rest of the article

The fifth instalment from the GTA franchise is the most captivating game yet. It is completely stunning. The graphics, unlike anything else seen before or after. This game leaves a key question in every gamers head

HOW CAN THEY TOP THIS?

Then move on to main article

Given the pedigree and almost brutish levels of hype surround GTA V it would have been a supirse if this wasn't the five star humdinger that you would expect. But here we are: Grand Theft Auto V is the pinnacle of open-world video game design and a colossal get of technical engineering. It takes a template laid down by its predecessors and expands upon it, improving on and streamlining some of its rougher aspects. It doesn't break out of that template and can be brash, nasty and nihilistic. But for its more unsavoury aspects, this game has been build with skilled mechanical expertise and creative artistry.

LO1 - Expanding on Three Ideas

Sheffield Tourist Guide Magazine

This idea would come together with several different components that come together to make the full magazine. I imagine the front being a photo shopped with several different buildings from around Sheffield. The condense of this would include different sights to see around Sheffield. Showing off the countryside aspect, and also showing city life. This would also include things to do and places to eat.

Gaming Magazine

This would include reviews on new and old games. Interviews, and will also talk about upcoming releases.  And will also talk about consoles and go slightly into how significant each console is. And this will also highlight specific franchises.

Gardening Magazine

This magazine would have many pictures of different plants in. It would go into specific details on several plants. Also I will talk about the season and what plants are ideal to grow in that season. And it will showcase one specific plant and go over it in detail.

LO1 - Draft Articles Editorial Page

The goal for this page is to make the reader warm up to the editor of the magazine, and get familiar with the product that they will hopefully be purchasing in the future

Creating a gaming magazine was always a mouth watering prospect for me, with the state of gaming at an all time high/at such a great place right now. I had to think "what better tome to start a gaming magazine than now?" with the rebirth of Star Wars Battlefront, and the arrival of the next gen consoles we are at a peak. But with the future being so bright we can't forget the past. This magazine will combine the past and present creating a beautiful contrast.

LO1 - Page 5 Draft Articles (Is it worth it page)

After a long wait starwars fans were finally allowed to get a slight taste of the most anticipated Star Wars game in a long while. But the question that is on everyones mind is, ‘is it worth it. The answer is simply yes, but if some demands are simply met. The Beta that got over 2 million downloads really showcased the pros and cons that players will get on this game. Luckily the pros out weigh the cons. The pros are the incredible battle expierence that a user will get on a game like this, it really does put a player into the battle field expierence. Resulting in never a dull moment, wether its AT-AT explosions, Tie Fighters dropping out of the sky or fleets of enemys charging towards you. The online expierence is at an incredible level with up to 40 players allowed on Walker Assault resulting in a never boring online expierence. But the real issue is the way that the Empires men are simply over powered.

Resulting in an unfair expierence fr the Rebels team. All they have to do is take away the over powered qualities of one of the teams, mayvbemake the Rebels objective slightly more simple and less complicated. But overall this game is an incredible expierence. and sometimes tge challenge does add to some of the fun. But a level of fairness is greatly needed. The graphics for this game are just what a user would expect froma  game hat is this level. It’s nothing groundbreaking but it is of course a great improvment from the previous games and doesn’t look bad compared to other next generation games. With a new game and a new film coming out this year the Star Wars franchise appears to not be letting its die hard fans down. This game deffinitly looks like it is worth the money to pre order and secure your copy. I will deffinitly be buying myself a copy.

Target Audience

The target audience for this gaming magazine are gamers of a younger age demographic. Most of these games are also very accessible to adults so I would say the magazine is for people aged between 11 to 25 and mainly towards a male demographic. I would  say that this is to an ABC1 audience with a disposable income as it isn't that

LO1 - Editorial Planning

What do you want to tell your reader?

I want to tell the reader about games from the past, in a way that will help educate a user on more 'classic' games. But also integrate news and reviews about more recent games, to keep my magazine relevant today.

What is the strongest article in your magazine?

The strongest article in my magazine will be the reviews within the magazine, this will be because they are mostly opinions and that will be the strongest point within my magazine. The reviews will be about 'Retro' games, and there will be a more recent game that I will review, which will be Destiny.

What experiences brought you to edit this magazine?

The reason as to why I'm editing this magazine is because of how much I enjoy games, from all different genres. So writing about games is something that I would enjoy doing.
